‘ICT for Agriculture’ wins Ncell App Camp competition

KATHMANDU, DEC 12 - ICT for Agriculture, a project designed by the participants at the Ncell App Camp, has been named the title winner on Thursday.
Amid a gala event, the winners were presented with a cash prize of Rs 500,000 by Ncell CEO ErimTaylanlar and Department of Industries Director General Dhurba Lal Rajbanshi. According to Ncell, the winners will also get an opportunity to participate in similar international competitions.
The mobile phone application—ICT for Agriculture—basically connects multiple stakeholders of the agriculture sector to a common platform and imparts knowledge about various aspects of agro business to the farmers. The event participants were designated to create applications under four categories—Agriculture, Corporate Solutions, Education and Tourism.
In each of the categories, six projects were competing for the group title and the event title. The winner of the overall event, ICT for Agriculture, was also awarded as the best in the agriculture category. They were awarded with a pay cheque of Rs 250,000 by Anand Bagaria of Nimbus. In total, the project won Rs 750,000.
SentiNep emerged as the group winner in the Corporate Solutions category, RitiRiwaj won in the Education category, and Lipi (The Script) won in the Tourism category. They were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 250,000 each.
According to Ncell, a total of 457 projects had contested, of which 150 projects were selected initially. The participants were mentored by national and international mentors representing different sectors. Addressing the gala ceremony, Taylanlar expressed happiness to see a range of innovative cell phone applications developed by Nepali developers.
